Retention and disk space
How long Glimpo keeps footage, how it stops your hub's disk and your cloud from filling up, and what happens when space runs low.
Updated 17 October 2026
Default retention
| Footage | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Continuous footage | 7 days |
| Event clips | 30 days |
| Starred clips | Forever |
Old footage is removed automatically, on the hub and in your destinations. Star a clip from its event to keep it for good.
The hub’s own disk
The hub keeps a local copy of recent footage and has a local disk cap. Within it, the disk guard looks after you:
- When space runs low, it deletes the oldest footage first, starting with footage that has already been uploaded.
- If the disk is nearly full anyway, recording pauses and you get an alert, instead of the hub failing silently.
Your cloud
Each destination can have its own storage limit. Glimpo removes its own oldest files first to stay under it (never starred ones). See Storage destinations.
Using less space in the first place
- Use Events or Smart 24/7 instead of Continuous. See Record modes.
- Prefer H.265 in your camera’s settings if it supports it: roughly half the size of H.264 at the same quality.
- On Pro, overnight recompression turns older H.264 footage into H.265 on the hub’s hardware encoder, about 40% smaller, and replaces the cloud copies.
