Glimpo is one app for every camera you own, whatever the brand, recording to storage you already have. Here’s why it exists and what we promise.
Why now
The SD card in every camera was always a bad idea.
A camera that records to its own memory card loses everything the moment it’s stolen, broken or the card wears out. And memory has become expensive: a 128 GB card that cost about $30 at the start of 2026 was around $52 a few months later.
The alternative the camera makers offer is a subscription per brand: a few dollars per camera, every month, for each app. A home with two or three brands ends up paying for several apps that don’t talk to each other, and their cloud plans often keep only short motion clips anyway.
Meanwhile the open-source tools that solve this properly are built for hobbyists, with config files, servers and Docker. None of them makes “record every camera to my own storage” a one-tap choice for a normal household.
So we built one: a small hub on a computer you already own, that speaks the open standards 114+ camera brands support, and puts the footage in storage you control, encrypted.

What we promise.
Your footage is yours
Video goes from your cameras to your hub to storage you chose. It never passes through our servers, and uploads are end-to-end encrypted, so neither we nor your cloud provider can watch it.
Leaving is always possible
Clips live in your own NAS, bucket or folder. Your recovery key and the decrypt tool turn them back into ordinary MP4 files, subscription or not.
Honest about compatibility
We say which brands are tested and which work through open standards, and we mark what isn’t built yet as coming soon. If a camera can’t work and we can’t fix it, we refund the period.
Secure by default, not by settings
No port-forwarding, ever. Single-use pairing codes, short-lived media links, image-free notifications, encrypted secrets, and a third-party audit before 1.0.
AI that stays at home
Detection and search run on your hub. Nothing is uploaded to be analysed, and anything sensitive will always be opt-in and on-device.
Paid by you, not by your data
We make money from subscriptions. We don’t sell your data or use it for advertising, and we never need your video.
What we deliberately don’t do
- We don’t host your video
- Running everyone’s cameras 24/7 on our servers would cost more than the subscription and break the promise above. So we don’t.
- We don’t sell cameras
- Keep the ones you have. Glimpo works with most of the market through ONVIF and RTSP.
- We don’t lock you in
- No proprietary storage, no hostage footage, no per-brand app to keep paying for.
