Storage destinations

Record to Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive (coming soon)

One-tap sign-in for consumer cloud drives is coming soon. What works today instead, and how storage limits and permissions will work.

Updated 17 October 2026

Coming soon

One-tap sign-in for Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive isn’t live yet. These work today:

  • S3-compatible storage: AWS S3, Backblaze B2, Cloudflare R2 or Wasabi. See S3, B2, R2 and Wasabi.
  • WebDAV: Nextcloud, Synology or ownCloud.
  • A NAS share, USB drive or any folder on the hub.

See Storage destinations for all of them. The rest of this page describes how the consumer drives will work once sign-in is live.

Connect

You’ll open Storage → Add destination, pick Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive, and sign in. Clips then upload, encrypted, as they’re recorded.

What Glimpo can see in your account

As little as possible:

  • Google Drive will use the drive.file permission. Glimpo can only see and change files it created itself, not the rest of your Drive.
  • Dropbox and OneDrive will use an app folder. Glimpo works inside its own folder only.

Footage is encrypted before upload, so the provider stores ciphertext either way.

Set a storage limit

Free Google Drive is 15 GB and free Dropbox is 2 GB, and they’re shared with your email and photos. In the destination’s settings, set a Storage limit, for example “use at most 200 GB”. Then Glimpo:

  • deletes its own oldest files first to stay under the limit (starred clips are never removed);
  • checks how full the account is every 10 minutes and makes room if it drops below 2% free;
  • sends you a daily notification if the account passes 90% full.

Footage per uploaded file

The hub records in one-minute pieces. For these three providers, Glimpo joins them into 10-minute files before uploading (you can choose 1, 10 or 15 minutes under Footage per uploaded file). That means far fewer files, a folder you can actually browse, and no trouble with the providers’ rate limits. Files are split at gaps and at midnight, and leftover pieces are sent after a few minutes.

How much will it use?

In Events mode, typically 80–95% less than recording 24/7. For heavy 24/7 recording across many cameras, an S3-compatible bucket like Backblaze B2 or Cloudflare R2 is cheaper and has no daily upload cap. See S3, B2, R2 and Wasabi.
